On Writing

I will be the first to admit that I’m not an expert on writing and publishing, but I will do my best to help my fellow writers in any way possible. If you’ve ever wanted to write a book but been told you can’t do it, guess what?

You can do it! Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Writing can always improve, and writers should always be looking for ways to improve.

Some people have natural storytelling talent, which is great, but even if you do, you have to put in time and effort. It can take years to write and publish your books, especially if you want to do it right. In this day and age, anyone can write a book and publish it on Amazon, but that’s not what you want to do if you truly love reading, if you truly love writing, if you truly love the characters in your stories and want others to care about them too. Especially because many readers lose faith in a story if there are too many errors or the flow isn’t right. As writers, we become so deeply involved in the stories we write that we often miss things. That’s why you should always be open to criticism.

Great writing and great books come from practice and critiques. From what I’ve learned, the rule of thumb is the more you read, the better you write, and writing can only improves with practice. You have to start reading like a writer. You don’t have to spend hours a day on your writing either, most people don’t have time for that. What you can do is spend at least an hour a day on your writing.

Okay, that’s what I wanted to say. If you spent the time to read through this entire post, then I know you’ll succeed as a writer, because it means you’re determined. I hope the links I’ve provided below will help you through your writing journey as they’ve helped me. Best of luck, fellow writers!
