My Top 10 YA Books
With everything going on in the world right now with Coronavirus lockdowns happening all over the world, this is the best time to get lost in a new book. So today I want to share with you my top 10 favorite YA books, not in any specific order, because I love books too much to have one favorite, it was hard enough coming up with 10 favorites! If this is your first time visiting my website, welcome! Feel free to check out my about page to learn more about me.
The Fault in Our Stars
I usually don’t read standalone books often, but I was glad I read this one. It was such a great book! I even cried when reading it, which is pretty rare for me. The way John Green uses his words to express different emotions is amazing!
If you haven’t already, do check out the book! It’s really a great read.
Lux Series
Jennifer L. Armentrout is one of my all-time favorite authors! The Lux novels were amazing! I absolutely fell in love with not only Katy and Daemon, but Dee too! All the characters were so three dimensional, each with their own personalities.
If you haven’t already, read the Lux novels, you won’t regret it.
Covenant Series
Here is another great book series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. The world building in this novel is truly great, as was the mythology and character dynamics. One of my favorite thing about Half-Blood was the chemistry between Alex and Aiden.
Find out more about Half-Blood here.
Fallen Series
The Fallen series was very fun to read. The amount of research Lauren Kate put into the mythology present in the novels was exceptional. It took the star-crossed lovers trope to a whole new level with this epic love story of Luce and Daniel.
Please do check it out if you haven’t read it already.
Vampire Academy Series
Vampire Academy is one of my all-time favorite series that I’ve read. I’ve probably re-read the series over 4 times! Any time I want to read but don’t know which book to pick up, I pick up the Vampire Academy series. The romance between Rose and Dimitri is swoon-worthy.
I’m sure majority of people have already read this book by now, but if not, read it now! The best part is there are six novels in the series, so it will keep you busy.
Matched Trilogy
Matched was a book that blew me away with the world building. Not only was it a great story with interesting characters, but the societal norms where so different and yet written in a way that made sense in the story. I thought it was very original and entertaining.
If you haven’t read it already, check out the Matched trilogy website. Ally Condie even has cool book trailers for each of the books in the trilogy!
Significance Series
Shelly Crane’s Significance series is great for anyone who loves a soulmates story. The story unfolded at a great pace that kept me turning pages and staying up all night. At the end of the book, I was eagerly waiting for the release of the next book!
There are six books in this series, so it’s a great idea to start reading to pass time during the lockdown.
Shadow Falls Series
It’s funny actually, at first I didn’t think this book would be very interesting, because I hadn’t read anything like it before, but once I started, I couldn’t put it down! It’s a great book about friendship, discovering who you are, and of course there’s some romance too!
Read more about this series here at C. C. Hunter’s website.
The Mortal Instruments
City of Bones was a great start to a series set in a unique world. These books have gone on to make a movie and a great TV show. The characters and world building was phenomenal. Hats off to Cassandra Clare!
The TV show is free to watch on freeform! Also check out the books as well. Cassandra Clare has written many different series based in the same world.
Embrace Series
So there you have it! Those were my top 10 favorite YA books. What are your top 10 YA books?

Manisha
Hello,
I like your top ten series list. Reading has always been a passion of mine and in regards to YA books, the following are my favorites (not necessarily in order from 1 to 10).
The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas
If you thought a beautiful girl in jewels and dress wasn’t the most lethal person, you were wrong. She is a lady and an assassin with lots of sass.
A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas (book two in an ongoing series)
Learning who you are isn’t easy, but Feyre finds herself and someone she despised is now her inner circle. In any world, I’d love this group of friends.
Fire by Kristin Cashore
Some people love her, others hate her, all as soon as they see her. This girl has learned how to be the best kind of monster.
Pride + Prejudice + Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith
Let’s be honest, adding the undead to the classic literature makes for a perfect mesh of new and old favorites.
The Wrath & The Dawn by Renee Ahdieh (first in a duology)
As US Weekly says, its a mix between Game of Thrones and Arabian Nights. For me, I loved it so much my daughter is named after the main protagonist.
Red Riding Hood by Sarah Blakely-Cartwright
Not the classic fairy tale we grew up with, this one is riveting and sexy.
Lady Knight by Tamora Pierce (Book four in a quartet)
The first girl to become a knight, this book shows girls can do the same things as boys, and sometimes we are even better at it.
Dark Visions by L. J. Smith
Psychic abilities, finding out how the difference in how to love and being in love, and how sometimes the people who are just the worst are actually the best.
An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir (first in a series)
A slave meets a soldier and together they turn the world upside down. Tribal hues mixed with eastern folklore.
Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard (first in a series)
Low class based on her blood, yet accidentally discovers powers to rival the strongest silver bloods, Mare is amazing.

Thanks for sharing Manisha!
I enjoyed Dark Visions by L.J. Smith.
I have yet to read the others, but will have to add them to my reading list, as they seem very interesting. It seems to be growing daily but that just means more great stories to get lost in!
