Sirens of the Immortal Realm

Meant to show Sirens of the Immortal Realm, this is an image of a woman's head sticking out of the water up to her eyes. She is glaring.

Hey guys, it’s been so long since my last blog! Feels to me like it’s been years. I am finally ready to restart my weekly blogs. If you’re new to my site, welcome! I’m glad you found your way here. Today I’m excited to share with you a little about the Sirens of the Immortal Realm.

If you missed a few of the posts about the Immortal Realm or want a refresher, feel free to check them out here.

Link between Sirens and Mermaids

I figured it was fitting to do a blog post about Sirens now since my last post was about the Mermaids of the Immortal Realm. There is a huge link between sirens and mermaids, you want to know what that is?

Well, I’m glad you asked! Sirens are mermaids that decided to turn against nature to expand their lifespans. To understand this, you must remember that I mentioned that Immortals age differently than humans. After age 18, it takes them another 18 years to turn 19, then another 19 years to turn 20. So the older they get the longer they take to age. For example, an Immortal who is celebrating their fortieth birthday will have been alive for 685 years.  As you can imagine, this makes their normal lifespan thousands of years. But at some point they will reach their eighty or nineties and will die, not to mention their mobility will decrease as it does for us.

For some Immortals, they never want to die and wish to stay eternally young. There is a way to do that but it is so cruel that it darkens your soul. Basically, every time one Immortal murders another, the lifespan that they would’ve lived is added to their killers lifespan and slows down the aging even more.

The downside is that every time they kill someone, they start losing their goodness. First it’s the small things like appreciation and gratitude, but then if they continue, they’ll lose their compassion, their ability to love, their ability to feel happiness. Of all the possible fates one can have in the Immortal Realm, this one is one of the worst.

Genealogy of Sirens

As I mentioned before in one of my blogs about the Immortal Realm, different Immortal beings can procreate. Meaning a vampire and a witch can have a baby, or so can a mermaid and a shapeshifter. The species of the baby will be determined by the mother, meaning if she’s a witch, the baby will be a witch too.

The reason I brought this up is because any mermaid can decide to turn evil and kill to expand their lifespans, but only mermaids whose fathers were witches can become sirens, gaining the beautiful singing voice that we often hear about.

The other mermaids that decide to kill don’t have the ability to hypnotize their victims, so they have to either seduce them the old fashioned way or attack them with their powers before using the flaming sword on them.

You may be wondering why I haven’t mentioned the sword forged in the dragons’ breath since that is the other of the two weapons that can kill an Immortal. That is for two reasons: for one, these swords are harder to come by since there are only 4 ancient dragons left who can forge them. The second reason is that after a few times, the person realizes that they are expanding their lifespan and then they start killing on purpose. At that point, the sword forged in a dragons’ breath is too merciful a death to work since their soul may return again one day.

The Siren’s Song

Sirens have the advantage compared to mermaids in that their song hypnotizes their victims to the point where they will just stand still while the siren drives a sword or dagger through their hearts.

So guys, I really hope you enjoyed this blog post as much as I enjoyed writing it! It’s been too long since I’ve been able to write and publish a new blog post. Let me know in the comments what you thought of the Sirens of the Immortal Realm.
